Update – Sila Has Arrived Safely in Italy ❤️
Yesterday, 13 August 2025, Sila was among 10 Palestinian children evacuated from Gaza to Italy for urgent medical care. She travelled with other young patients and their accompanying family members on a humanitarian mission coordinated by the Italian government, the Ministry of Defence, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The operation involved three Italian Air Force flights from Eilat, Israel, landing in Rome (Ciampino), Milan (Linate), and Pisa. In total, 114 people arrived safely — 31 children in total, along with 83 parents and caregivers.
Sila will now receive the specialised care she urgently needs after surviving unimaginable injuries and losing both her legs in the war. This evacuation marks Italy’s largest medical rescue of children from Gaza so far and brings the total number of young patients evacuated since January 2024 to over 180.
“Questi bambini sono il simbolo della speranza e del futuro.”
— Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, welcoming the children at Ciampino Airport
We are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported Sila’s journey — through donations, sharing her story, and keeping her in your thoughts and prayers. This step is a beacon of hope, but her road to recovery will be long. Your continued support will help her rebuild her life.
❤️ Thank you for standing with Sila. Every oct of kindness brings her closer to walking again.
URGENT UPDATE ON SILA
(July 22th)
Sila is still waiting.
Despite our best efforts, no country has yet agreed to receive her for the life-saving medical treatment she urgently needs. This little girl has already lost both her legs — and now, the crisis is deepening.
Sila is malnourished.
The situation in Gaza has become unbearable. She doesn’t just need surgery — she needs food. Every day that passes puts her life at greater risk. She needs to get out, not just for medical care, but for the basic right to survive.
We are doing everything we can to find a country that will open its doors. Your support is the only thing keeping hope alive.
Please continue to share, donate, and speak up for Sila. Her life depends on it.
URGENT UPDATE: Sila Still Needs Us
Thank you to everyone who has supported Sila Madi so far. Your kindness has helped shine a light on her story—a brave 8-year-old girl from Gaza who lost both her legs in an airstrike while fleeing violence with her family.
She is still in the hospital, in pain, and unable to move. She faces a long road ahead: prolonged treatment, recovery, trauma healing, and the hope of receiving prosthetic limbs—which are nearly impossible to access without outside help.
We haven’t seen any donations in the last few days, and we’re falling short of what’s needed to get Sila the care she urgently deserves.
Even a small contribution or sharing this page can make a real difference right now.
Please don’t scroll past her story.
If you can give—thank you.
If you can share—thank you.
If you can keep her in your heart—thank you.
❤️ Let’s remind this little girl she hasn’t been forgotten.
Sila Madi is eight years old. She should be running, laughing, playing with her friends. But instead, she lies in a hospital bed in Gaza, her childhood forever changed. Both of her legs are gone — taken by the violence that shattered her home and her body.
Sila did not choose this war. She did not understand its politics or its history. She only knew the sound of explosions, the rush to shelter, the silence that followed. And then — pain.
Her small body has suffered more than most adults will in a lifetime. Yet in her eyes, there is still light. Still softness. Still life.
This story is about Sila — not just what happened to her, but who she is. A survivor. A child of Gaza, whose life was torn apart by something she never caused.
My campaign is a tribute — not only to her suffering, but to her strength. It is a call to remember that behind every number, every news headline, is a real child with a name, a family, a favorite game, a dream. Her name is Sila Madi. She is 8. And her story matters.
Sincerly //Sofia
Update on Sila June 22th
Due to infection and a constantly high fever Silas right leg was again amputated a few days ago. Her left leg is also at risk, since the doctors can’t manage the infections without proper medicin and equipment. The only thing that will save her is to be evacuated. With the situation escalating it’s hard to tell when, and even if, that will be possible. This campaign is now aiming to get her started on building a new life and a future once she receive the care she desperatly needs right now. Along with her older sister and mother, both of them also in critical condition. Hopefully the family will be evacuated as a whole.
